Festival Essentials Guide: Everything You Need for an Epic Festival Experience.
Whether you’re a first-time festival-goer or a seasoned veteran, being well-prepared can make or break your experience. Long days, unpredictable weather, and limited resources mean you need to pack smart and plan ahead. Here’s a quick guide to festival essentials that’ll keep you dancing, dry, and happy all weekend long.
1. Tickets, ID & Money
First and foremost: don’t forget your festival ticket or wristband, government-issued ID (especially if alcohol is involved), and some form of money (cash and card). Many festivals are going cashless these days, but it’s still smart to bring some cash for emergencies or smaller vendors.
2. Camping Gear (If Applicable)
If it’s a camping festival, your shelter setup is crucial:
Tent (ideally waterproof with a rainfly)
Sleeping bag & mat or air mattress
Pillow
Camping chair or blanket
Headlamp or flashlight (with extra batteries)
Pro tip: Practice setting up your tent before the festival. You don’t want to figure it out at midnight in the rain.
3. Clothing for All Weather
Festivals are notorious for wild weather swings. Dress for comfort and style:
Comfortable shoes (you’ll be walking/dancing for hours)
Layered clothing (hoodies, light jackets)
Rain poncho or waterproof jacket
Hat & sunglasses
Towel
Don’t forget extra socks and underwear—mud happens.
4. Toiletries & Hygiene
Keep yourself feeling fresh with:
Toilet paper or tissues (porta-potties run out fast)
Wet wipes or biodegradable soap
Hand sanitizer
Toothbrush & toothpaste
Deodorant
Sunscreen & bug spray
Optional but appreciated: dry shampoo, face wipes, and a small mirror.
5. Food & Drinks
Some festivals allow you to bring your own food and drinks. Even if they don’t:
Reusable water bottle or hydration pack (hydration is key)
Snacks like protein bars, trail mix, or fruit
Cooler with ice (if allowed)
Reusable utensils and plates
Be sure to check festival rules about glass containers and open flames.
6. Tech & Accessories
Portable phone charger or power bank
Phone with waterproof pouch
Camera (if separate from your phone)
Earplugs (save your ears for the next show)
Lanyard or small bag (for easy access to essentials)
